Legal Work
I am an admitted solicitor, currently working part-time Violet Co & Legal Consulting as a legal consultant alongside my University role. I did my practical legal training at Clayton Utz and have volunteered at the Redfern Legal Centre and Welfare Rights NSW. I am an active member of the Women Lawyers Association of NSW. With a first class honours Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney, I specialised during my studies in administrative and employment law and was awarded the Harmers Workplace Lawyers Prize in Employment and Industrial Law and the Sir Beattie Prize in Employment and Industrial Law. My last book, Patterns of Exploitation, analyses 907 employment law court cases litigated by migrant workers and their representatives and has been read by judges across the Federal Court. I am regularly invited to speak at the Law Council of Australian Immigration Section conference. Through my work as Vice President, Australian Institute of Employment Rights, I have co-organised the Annual Ron McCallum Debate in Employment Law.
